Milk Thistle extract - 2, 4 oz Milk Thistle extract may protect the cells of the liver by blocking the gateway of harmful toxins along with helping to remove these toxins from liver cells. The silymarin found in Milk Thistle is a very powerful antioxidant. It also regenerates damaged liver cells. Milk Thistle has been used for over 2000 years and more recently in the 1900’s it was sited for use in opening obstructions of the liver and spleen and recommended for the treatment of jaundice. Milk Thistle has been also used to relieve congestion of the liver, spleen and kidneys. Milk Thistle seeds contain a bioflavonoid complex known as silymarin which is believed responsible for its medical benefits. Silymarin is made up of three parts: silibinin (the most active), silicristin and silidianin. Silibinin medical benefits are attributed to silymarin. Many with liver disease take silymarin from an herbal extract of Milk Thistle.
